how do i use weechat i already downloaded the tar, i already have

What OS are you using? o.o If its ubuntu (and/or debian-based), you
can always do:

apt update
apt install weechat

then type in 'weechat'

since you download the tar, you can compile it yourself. as long as
gcc is installed. compile it locally.
