Why does one of my laptops connect to channels immediately but the
other with the same options takes several minutes?

I'm using HexChat under Peppermint OS, and one of my laptops will
connect as soon as I click connect, but the other takes sometimes up
to 3 minutes to connect, what's up?

When it says "connecting to servername" then lists the server's  IP
address,

Yeah, using Hexchat on both of them, and never changed any settings so
same IP is almost a guarantee.
