(Im new to IRC, dont judge me please) reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Light_Flawless · 2019-07-23 22:11 Adittional question: Can I set it up on class when the LAN conection its on but the internet its disabled? (Codding class, they wouldnt allow me to use alike apps to help each other TO LEARN the fcking bullshit they were explaining because: "if you say something on the chat while im speaking ~~out of my fcking ass~~ then its the same as if you were disrespecting me by talking while I speak". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dijit4l · 2019-07-24 00:15 No ---------------------------------------------------------------------- iownall555 · 2019-07-24 00:39 >reddit plugin for an IRC client Is it possible? Sure. Has it been done before? Probably not. Still, if you want to give it a go, you might want to try doing it in a client that supports a programming language like Python. >LAN based IRC You could set up an IRC server on your local machine and give the give the local ip out to your classmates. That said, you should probably listen to your teacher. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kbdwr · 2019-07-24 00:55 To Reddit- no. As for the second part - you probably could run an ircd, an irc server on your machine and let others know the IP so they can connect using irc clients. But you could be better off using some network chat app. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- damiankw · 2019-07-24 01:28 Of course you can, but you would have to build the ability to do so yourself, I doubt anyone has done more than notifications from Reddit to IRC before .. but I could be wrong. You can just build an IRC bot which uses the Reddit API's to pull data as you request it. I would personally do this in a DCC Chat though so you're not limited by the data limit on the IRC network you're on though, it can just be free flowing text between you and the bot. Regarding the LAN thing, if your IRCd is configured on the LAN and your IRC client is also on the LAN it will work .. but the bot would need to have Internet access in order to collect the data from Reddit.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2019-07-24 07:33 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Light_Flawless · 2019-08-05 13:50 First of thank you, I made a low effort post in another comunity that blew up and I didnt see the replies in this one and thought no one answered, sorry. About the teacher, well I dont agree in that way of teaching students. You will nearly never end up working alone you will need to learn to cooperate sooner or later. I think its much better to have a healthy relationship with your mates, to do it with the ones you get put with to make it more of a challenge and if the teacher is reading me the book which I can do fairly faster and much clearer and Im supposed to listen to him but to also finish a project at the same time Its best if I ask my mate "dude I forgot the command for X thing" "It this one" and he asks me as well than to just scroll over 20 pages trying to find the command. I ll let you know once I try the LAN if I were succesful ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LameBMX · 2019-08-22 12:53 Dig up an old copy of mirc for windows.
