Blind Guy Trying to Find iOS IRC Client to Read Twitch Chat. Please Help. reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BlindlyPlayingGames · 2019-06-30 11:05 Hello Reddit, I'm completely blind, and I stream World of Warcraft on Twitch with a two laptop setup with one reading the chat to me by using a screen reader (JAWS or NVDA). Now, I want to try some IRL streaming with my iPhone, but I'm not sure how to get the chat read to me while streaming on iOS. I have already asked the Twitch subreddit, but I still couldn't find a solution. However, they told me Twitch chat uses IRC. I have tried LimeChat, and VoiceOver (a screen reader on Apple products) can read the chat, but it doesn't automatically read every new message when it is sent. There are other IRC clients that I haven't tried, but I figured that I would ask here first before throwing more money at this. Furthermore, VoiceOver doesn't work well with the chat on the Twitch app. Can anyone suggest an IRC client or another method that automatically reads every new message that is sent in chat? Something like Speechchat would probably work, but it doesn't work for iOS. Thanks for any help. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AsteriskMC · 2019-07-01 00:31 I have a question as I've never met someone that is blind and plays video games. How do you do it for say World of Warcraft in that case? Sorry for being off-topic. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BlindlyPlayingGames · 2019-07-01 02:15 No worries. If you're interested, I made a guide on how to play WoW blind. The only issue I can think of though, is what happens when a channel is too busy and it's just nonstop that you end up minutes behind? Should it just stop reading the previous when a new message comes in? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BlindlyPlayingGames · 2019-07-01 14:15 Hi. I actually just tried to use Igloo today, but I was having some issues with it. Do you think you would be willing to talk with me to get the app working correctly for me? Also, I would have to think about what would be the best way to do the messages if it is a busy chat. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- eskimo_dev · 2019-07-01 14:23 Of course. The best place to reach me is in #igloo on iglooirc.com. My nick is eskimo. Feel free to PM me or mention when you arrive. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BlindlyPlayingGames · 2019-07-01 14:53 I just sent you a Reddit PM. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Saber_UK · 2019-07-02 11:47 If you're talking about not being able to connect to freenode that's because Igloo is currently banned network-wide. I'd honestly not recommend trusting software developed by that idiot tbh. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BlindlyPlayingGames · 2019-07-02 14:51 What is Freenode? I’m talking about connecting to the Twitch IRC server. Also, who would you not want software developed by? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2019-07-07 01:09 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2019-07-07 01:39 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2019-07-13 04:29 [deleted]
