Is there a way to set an alert for a phrase? I tried single and
double quotes but neither seemed to work.

You would have to make a script. The built in feature is basically
designed around nicks only.

you can do stars maybe. so "hey whats up" as "hey *whats *up" but i've
never tried it i'm not sure if that works or if it marks every single
part that shows up
