Can't seem to make /oper work reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lazerc0bra · 2019-03-08 06:13 I just set up an IRC server for personal use, but for some reason logging in with /oper doesn't seem to do anything, no matter what client I use. When I use it to log in, the server says irc.example.com sets mode +o on myUsername But I can't actually do any moderator stuff. For example, if I try to kick someone from #general, it says #general :You must be a channel half-operator Am I just being fantastically moronic? I'm running inspircd 2.0.27, and I've just edited the basic .conf file. the block is set to: If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A-UNDERSCORE-D · 2019-03-08 06:14 being umode +o doesnt make you a god. It gives you access to tools that allow you to override channel access. Look into the /sa* series of commands, such as sakick and samode ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Lazerc0bra · 2019-03-08 06:18 okay, how do I configure my server so that logging in as admin will give me full control permissions? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- A-UNDERSCORE-D · 2019-03-08 06:27 You have `/sa*` commands which are more than enough to do anything in any channel. IRC operators exist to clean up issues that regular ops and users cannot deal with themselves. if you *really* want that, I'd suggest looking into the operjoin module. Or the operprefix module. /sa* commands should give you all the control you need though. You can do anything with them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gaiusm · 2019-03-12 20:33 Maybe use/write aliases/scripts/... to transform your regular commands into SA commands?
