Need help using moviegods? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thoughtfulparsnip · 2019-01-13 23:47 I'm an IRC newbie and although I've got the hang of downloading from rizon and ebooks, I can't make moviegods work. I can't find a simple tutorial for a beginner either. Can someone please tell me how to find stuff and download it? I'm using MIRC. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2019-01-14 01:30 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Drooliog · 2019-01-14 01:39 First off, a search engine like ixirc makes things easier, although you can still make searches in the channel... A lot of these chans - mg, especially - want you to join its corresponding chat chan (#mg-chat in this instance). This is also where you run a search with !s blah. So long as you're in both chans, just paste the provided /msg string (from web or channel search) into the chatbox and enter. Within a second or so you should get a DCC receive request. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thoughtfulparsnip · 2019-01-14 09:24 I haven't actually got as far as being able to find stuff in the search. I mean it when I say I'm a noob. Can you please ELI5 how to log onto the channels I said, search and find stuff and download it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Drooliog · 2019-01-14 13:38 Well I assume you've join the correct server. Type /join #channel to join the channels - you need to be in moviegods and mg-chat. In mg- chat, type !s and if it found something, copy and paste the /msg string it spits out. It really is as simple as that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thoughtfulparsnip · 2019-01-14 20:04 Okay, I've got a few searches but they won't do anything for me when I paste them. This for example -BotReign- 001) 197x | 797M | Name.S01E01.720p.HDTV.x264-SVA.mkv | /MSG \[MG\]-MISC|EU|S|GLaDOS XDCC SEND 735 | Used: 3.19% 6/10 avg: 662.43KiB/s (4m49s ago) What should I be doing next? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Drooliog · 2019-01-14 20:09 It gives you the command to copy and paste: /MSG [MG]-MISC|EU|S|GLaDOS XDCC SEND 735 Just copy the the whole thing (in mIRC, just highlight that bit and it automatically goes into the clipboard when you release the mouse) and paste (Ctrl-V) into any of the chat windows. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- thoughtfulparsnip · 2019-01-14 20:39 I've got it. Thanks for all your help :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- one8seventl · 2019-02-18 15:11 I use ixirc and can download from most channels. But when downloading from moviegods I keep on getting the following error : You must /join #mg-chat to download. Your download will be canceled now. Did some research and found that I have to manually add a channel under the Abjects server and set a certain setting to autojoin, but I can't seem to figure out how to do this. Can someone please assist me?
