Slack is dreadful and I hate when projects use it, especially open
source ones.  They keep your past conversations hostage in the “free”
version and you actually have to pay to get access to old logs.

It’s especially stupid when IRC should be able to be used by
developers, who ought to be able to figure it out.  (Having said that,
it wasn’t until I started using IRCCloud that the barrier for entry to
IRC was sufficiently lowered that I could actually be productive with
it.  Now I’m migrating to a self-hosted setup, using ZNC plus Irssi.)

As a recent Convert from Irssi to Weechat, I have to say that I really
recommend trying out Weechat. It is nice.
