Freenode vs Rizon/EFNet reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- BubbleBassOrder · 2018-05-06 08:09 Can someone explain me why Rizon is not as famous as Freenode, swear to god every time I want to ask something I have to leave Rizon due to its lack of support. Also why doesn't Freenode offer cloaks by default like Rizon? Srsly having to ask a staff member for a bloody VHost is ridiculous ---------------------------------------------------------------------- namenamee · 2018-05-06 09:12 EFnet = *first IRC network, it's there for geeking, chatting, friends etc. you can talk about everything and almost everything is allowed. Rizon = Warez stuff, mostly anime, not sure they care about support, if you're there you should already know how to setup stuff and download from channels etc. (IMO that's more what they think). freenode = new network, all setup to be a great and kind learning community. Also, they don't get paid, they support and answer if they want to really. Relax, idle, chat, flirt, say some bullshit and enjoy, IRC is still awesome :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- svn · 2018-05-06 09:20 freenode is used by open source projects while rizon is for casual chat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KindOne · 2018-05-06 16:17 >Can someone explain me why Rizon is not as famous as Freenode, Because freenode is all about open source. You have almost every flavor of linux on that network and tons of open source software on the network. Lets take a walk down history lane... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rizon#Controversy Why would I want to hangout on a network like that? > swear to god every time I want to ask something I have to leave Rizon due to its lack of support. What exactly are you asking? >Also why doesn't Freenode offer cloaks by default like Rizon? http://freenode.net/kb/answer/cloaks >Srsly having to ask a staff member for a bloody VHost is ridiculous Why? Afraid of some script kiddy getting your IP address? You can always hide behind a bouncer, vpn, proxy, shell, or whatever you want. http://freenode.net/kb/answer/cloaks If you are really paranoid, hide behind freenode's tor-sasl, ignore CTCP/DCC, and don't click random links. Someone might be hosting a website and get your IP from you opening that link. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Jigoku1337 · 2018-05-06 17:01 Differnet type of networks, * Rizon = weebs * Freenode = neckbeards * EFNet = mostly general chat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- masta · 2018-05-06 19:16 Freenode, new? LMAO! I was on Open Projects Network (aka Freenode) back in 1997. It's not new, but perhaps it's new to you? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2018-05-06 19:40 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- juko_life · 2018-05-08 21:01 In 2018 EFNet is for neckbeards too. Also rizon is more active, I can't understand why people prefer lurking in whatsapp-like irc servers but not rizon if they want have fun? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- namenamee · 2018-05-11 02:06 Lol yeah sorry, I was on irc too back in 95-96 and for some reasons we always saw freenode like “the new network”. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- VersedNJ · 2018-07-30 23:38 Just use all three and others. I'm the Dalnet, Efnet, Freenode, Ircnet, Snoonet and sometimes on the Undernet and Rizon. Freenode is usually but not only a support network, it's was more in the past then present.
