How to view IRC ebooks? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grapplerdom · 2018-04-16 05:37 Beginner IRC user, and long post. tl;dr at end of post. Any help is appreciated. I've downloaded the file of a book series through Hexchat, and I want to read the books. When I open the .rar file with Chrome, it opens a tab that prompts a download of the same file that I'd just tried to open. The same prompt repeats every time I replace or try to open the new file. When I open with 7-zip, I can see further into the file, and there are three options: META-INF, OEBPS, and mimetype. I'm not sure what to use to open mimetype. META_INF and OEBPS contain a jumbled mess of files. A few of them are named long strings of numbers. Those lead to chapters of the books, but they are in no particular order regardless of any view sorting. How can I access my content? UPDATE: I played around for a while, trying to find a solution myself. Now the META-INF file has only "container.xml" inside. There is a new EPUB file in my file explorer, and I can open it in Microsoft Edge. This has everything I'm looking for, but I feel like there is a better way to access this content. I also have no idea how that file was created. Please can someone shine a light on my situation, and help me find a method of more seamlessly accessing content in the future. tl;dr: I have no idea how to easily view my ebooks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Blarrgatron · 2018-04-16 05:42 You need to get some sort of uncompresser, 7zip or WinRar are the easiest to use. Once you've installed that and downloaded your book file, locate it, right click on it, and choose Extract With (insert program name) and choose the location you want it to be extracted to. Once all that's done you should have a epub file that's viewable on an ereader ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grapplerdom · 2018-04-16 05:43 Thank you for such a quick response. Which ereader do you recommend? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Blarrgatron · 2018-04-16 05:45 Do you have a e-device you use, or are you using PC? If using PC only, I hear good things about Readium. Android I use MoonReader ---------------------------------------------------------------------- grapplerdom · 2018-04-16 05:49 I'm on PC, I will check out Readium. Thank you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- namenamee · 2018-04-16 10:04 I think even Sumatra PDF supports them https://www.sumatrapdfreader.org/free-pdf-reader.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cknipe · 2018-04-16 17:10 > I feel like there is a better way to access this content. You could buy the book maybe? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Senescences · 2018-04-16 20:09 https://calibre-ebook.com
