Notice: AndChat (free) no longer available on Google Play reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- yunocchi · 2018-03-11 21:32 AndChat users, Please be advised that the free edition of AndChat is no longer available through the Google Play store. If you already have the app installed on your device, consider making a backup \(creating an APK file\) to reinstall the app at a later time should you wish. The AndChat \(donate\) edition continues to be available however should not be considered as both the free and donate editions are at feature parity with each other and are no different from each other. As with any application, downloading APK files from third party resources should be done with caution and as AndChat was last updated nearly 6 years ago, should be avoided if at all possible. Please consider alternative IRC clients to use on the Android platform that offer feature parity or, in many cases, superior functionality and ongoing support. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- spling44 · 2018-03-11 23:09 I will probably just pay for it next time I need to get it. It's still the best Android IRC app imo. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2018-03-11 23:33 They’re not even asking much for it are they? It’s been a while since I’ve looked. I haven’t been on IRC in a while but I’d consider buying it just so the developer has a reason to keep it updated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- spling44 · 2018-03-12 00:10 $3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2018-03-12 01:45 For less than the cost of a cup of coffee you can feed a poor starving developer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Techman- · 2018-03-12 02:05 https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/al-r/andchat-free/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RichardG867 · 2018-03-12 13:21 My client of choice is the paid IRC4Android, but I would be happy to switch to anything that doesn't remain "connected" (and send outgoing messages to /dev/null) if my phone switches between Wi-Fi and data during sleep. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- LinuxF4n · 2018-03-15 18:07 > For less than the cost of a cup of coffee you can feed a poor starving developer. It's has been abandoned since like 2013. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2018-03-16 01:02 It was kind of a joke. But there is hope that if people start paying the developer would decide it's worth spending time on again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- VersedNJ · 2018-07-30 23:30 Even the donate version of AndChat has been taken down, I liked the program, most people like what they get used to. Not going to bother and moving on. I wish the developer still maintained it. But like everything people move on with life. And yes, I was a donated and used for years. I wish him well. using IRC for Android and used it under the previous name years ago. Well worth supporting the developer. Yaaic isn't bad either.
