Dabbling in IRC, new (old!) user! reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WaxerUK · 2018-01-17 23:15 I've always been aware of IRC and from time time to time I have tried a client, messed about, never really understood it, forgot about it again. I've been like this since the mid 90s. I decided to properly try to understand it. I have bought "Textual" for my mac and signed up to a few IRC channels... so what is the main use of IRC these days and what is the best way to go about getting the most out of it? Thanks all! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KindOne · 2018-01-18 06:39 Its like the internet, people go to different networks and channels for various things. Some people use it to just chat about whatever, some channels are dedicated to politics, cars, philosophy, psychology, news, etc.. >what is the best way to go about getting the most out of it Define that. What EXACTLY do YOU want to get out of it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- WaxerUK · 2018-01-18 07:27 Well I'm a music producer and some of the radio stations that are online, various forums and stuff have live IRC chats. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KindOne · 2018-01-18 08:04 http://irc.netsplit.de/channels/?chat=music I guess you could try #music and ##music on freenode.
