ZNC + Colloquy Push reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- scotty588 · 2017-11-19 20:40 I run ZNC on a little 128 MB VPS and a while ago I stopped getting push notifications on my phone for highlights and messages. Didn't really bother to try and fix it. Tried rebooting ZNC, didn't work. Decided to re-image my VPS with Debian 9 x64 minimal. I've also since gotten a new phone. Reinstalled ZNC with a fresh recompile, didn't import any settings and re-setup everything from scratch. Still can't get push notifications to work. I've spoken to one of the guys in #colloquy-mobile on Freenode who runs the push server and he took a look at server logs. He saw this on my server IP: >2017/11/18 23:45:19 Force-Close()'ing read thats taken over 5 seconds I asked what that meant and he said: >the plugin is behaving weirdly on your install and not closing a connection to our push server after connecting and sending a message to be relayed >the push server responds by closing the connection and ignoring future connections from said IP (typically not closing the socket is behavior that is unlikely to be automatically fixed the next time a client reconnects to relay another message) Not really sure what else to try. I deleted Colloquy from my phone and re-installed, re-added the ZNC server. The module does see my phone and has the correct token listed. I know this module is working fine for other people and it used to work for me. I'm not very knowledgeable in Linux. I'm lucky I can even get ZNC running and working, so I'm sorta at a loss of what to do next. Any suggestions for getting this working again? I've started having this issue as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- scotty588 · 2018-02-20 21:45 I don't know exactly what fixed it but run this command from your SSH shell and see what it says: >openssl s_client -connect colloquy.mobi:7906 -tls1_2 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MRosvall · 2018-02-20 22:34 I'm unsure what info I could safely post. But it lists a certificate. Does a handshake and I get a cipher. Session-ID and session-ID-ctx: are blank. I get a master key. PSK identity: None. Verify return code: 19 (Self signed certificate in certificate chain) \--- Read:errno=0 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- scotty588 · 2018-02-21 05:01 I really have no idea what fixed it. I was troubleshooting it with a guy on Freenode and he had me running strace. >strace -o /tmp/openssl-debug -s 65536 -y openssl s_client -connect colloquy.mobi:7906 -tls1_2 Then we tried strace on the PID of ZNC and then trigger what would have been a push notification: > strace -p $(6018) -s ... -o /tmp/debugznc or maybe it was this (I'm just looking at last commands I ran) >strace -p 6018 -s 65536 -o /tmp/debugznc -y It dumped some debug log and you could see when it was trying to connect to the push server. Seemed like It sorta randomly started working after that. Sorry, I don't know if that helps. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MRosvall · 2018-02-21 07:05 More help than anything I've found on my own, thanks! I'll give this a try after work. Can can check in on freenode as well. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MRosvall · 2018-02-21 16:13 So I tried this (on my PID for the later ones), however I get that -s and -y aren't valid options for strace. Checking strace help it seems there's an -S (big S, flush buffered strace output every PERIOD secs) but nothing on -y. Seems I'm still stuck here, but I'll check freenode. Thanks again though ---------------------------------------------------------------------- scotty588 · 2018-02-21 20:00 Hmm I just tried it on mine and -s and -y flags seem to work. I'm on an OpenVZ VPS running Debian 9.0 64-bit Minimal. On freenode I asked in one of these channels: #colloquy #colloquy- mobile #znc
