Is there any way to filter out IRC channels based on content? (how can I _not_ see all the computing-related rooms) reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DistFunc · 2017-10-22 06:50 Hi all, I am using mIRC on Freenode... When I get a channel list, the top 99% or so are computer-related channels. I am a geek but come to IRC to chat, not for coding. Is there any sort of way in mIRC, or third party website, or other IRC client, that has some sort of categories for channels, so one can filter out or filter in particular topics or categories? This probably means, has any site, person, or app set up a categorization scheme on top of the mayhem that is IRC? I know I could use boolean filters on the channel search, but that's not what I'm asking. That would be a huge mess, since the vast number of computing channels have greatly different names and topics. Thanks if you can help! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- svn · 2017-10-22 12:34 No, there's no such thing. Freenode is tech-centric so you better go to some other network if you want to talk. There are a few social channels in Freenode but they are full of trolls and actual autistics. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FluSolverson · 2017-10-22 13:28 I've got the same issue. If you find something cool or start something up, please let me know! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- aliencentipede · 2017-10-22 16:33 Try [Snoonet](https://snoonet.org/) as a network, it has a lot of reddit irc chans. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DistFunc · 2017-10-23 00:37 SVN, what other networks might I try? Thanks so much for your insight! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- svn · 2017-10-23 05:54 idk... efnet? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NverKhachoyan · 2017-11-13 08:32 Me too.
