No it doesn't. It's a regular IRC client. If the network you connect
to reveals your address to others, then they'll get to see the IP
address of your mobile.

When it was conceived, there was nothing wrong with showing your IP, I
guess? It is after all a way of identifying you, and people didn't
care much about that. Things have changed a lot in these decades...

Go on servers that hide your IP address, or simply forget about your
IP address being there, because it's not really relevant.

Really? That's a relief. Why is it I hear so much about ip with DDOS
then? (Again, I'm new to all of this.)

If you're worried about that then IRCCloud's mobile app proxies
through their server hiding your real IP from the IRC server. Its not
free though.
