How do you change your hostmask on IRC?

Doing this in an attempt to evade a ban for testing purposes. How do I
change my hostmask? Googling and digging deep hasn't provided me any
solutions.

Your hostmask is usually derived from your IP by being either your
hostname (reverse DNS) or in the form of a cloak (obfuscated version
of your IP).

So, you can't, short of changing IP.

It's not a literal ban, just for evading one to see if changing the
hostmask works. A friend and I are testing it to see how we can
prevent bans from being evaded in the future, or learn how to
recognize suspicious hostmasks.
