Persist chan/user modes through reboot with InspIRCd? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ButterCupKhaos · 2017-03-29 04:06 We've been using InspIRCd for a few months now and am stuck on two main pain points, looking for advice. 1. On server reboot - the first user to reconnect to a channel gets Chan Ops 2. On server reboot channels loose their modes (like +ip) I've tried to use a few different modules like m_chanprotect and such but these don't persist through reboot. Anyone have any good recommendations? Trying to stay light weight/minimal and avoid using something like ZNC, was hoping to find something where I could register channel details (chanmodes, chan ops, invited users, etc) in a DB that could be read on startup but haven't found anything yet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MuffinMedic · 2017-03-29 04:30 > was hoping to find something where I could register channel details (chanmodes, chan ops, invited users, etc) in a DB that could be read on startup but haven't found anything yet. You need to setup services alongside the IRCD. [Anope](http://anope.org) and [Atheme](http://atheme.net) are the two most widely used ones. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ButterCupKhaos · 2017-03-29 05:49 Thanks, I have looked at the Anope service, it's not clear to me what the services actually is other than additional module "packs" in essence but you need all the overhead of linking it up. Will run it on the same server - just seemed like there would be an easier route ---------------------------------------------------------------------- KindOne · 2017-03-29 09:07 This is a bit crude, but we were running a different IRCd. I had a friend that would host an ircd on his personal computer for games/testing/whatever. When his computer was going to get restarted (once every few months or so), I would link my ircd from my personal computer to his. We would set cmode +P on all the channels (only had like 20 of them). He would then update and restart his machine. He would start the ircd on his computer, we would link/sync, I'd shutdown my copy since it was no longer needed. Never lost bans/topics/cmodes. Anyways... ask in the InspIRCd support channel at irc.chatspike.net #inspircd They will be more helpful. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MuffinMedic · 2017-03-29 16:18 Services is what allows you to register nicknames and channels, maintain channel modes, and automatically set things such as vhosts and send memos to users. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Saber_UK · 2017-03-29 21:13 InspIRCd developer here. If you want to keep lightweight then you might want to look into a combination of m_autoop for automatically granting privileges to users and m_permchannels which writes your channel information to a file on reboot. You should really consider using a services package like Anope though. P.S. you should really use m_customprefix with the halfop/admin/founder prefixes enabled instead of m_halfop/m_chanprotect. The latter two modules are deprecated and have been removed in the dev version. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ButterCupKhaos · 2017-03-30 01:40 Thanks! Will do
