Anyone use XDCC on ircii? I have a few questions. reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2017-03-21 05:22 I'm trying to figure out this downloading-over-xdcc business and I've almost got it. I can request a file from a bot, but then do I need to set ircii to some sort of 'receive' mode? Do I need to enable XDCC somehow? And where do I find the downloaded file on my computer? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rcookerly · 2017-03-21 06:07 Usually you will see a receive request popup window where you can choose where you would like the file to be downloaded to. Obviously there are ways to auto-accept and auto-receive files to a default download directory, but it depends on the IRC software you are using. Auto downloading ALL files can be potentially dangerous though, so make sure you set all that up correctly. I'm not an expert but I used to download a lot using this method back in the day but it's been years. I now have everything automated using usenet and usenet services like Sonarr, Radarr, etc. Have you ever considered going that route rather than through IRC? Downloading through IRC is a little outdated and there are much better ways ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2017-03-21 08:21 I normally torrent. Just trying this for fun/variety. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- evilyou · 2017-03-21 17:36 In irssi I believe you have to /dcc get or /xdcc get to tell your client to get the file. It'll be downloaded into your home dir (or where irssi is installed locally.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2017-03-21 18:59 Right answer is right. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Triplesixer · 2017-03-22 01:25 In mirc I set dcc options to auto-get file and auto-accept chat and I disable the ignore option, just make sure you receive the right file before accepting DL. There are dcc search engines as well to simplify a little like [this one](https://ixirc.com/?cid=1881853746) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rcookerly · 2017-03-22 11:16 Ah, gotcha ;)
