Which IRC daemon? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gray_-_wolf · 2017-01-15 03:58 I want to install some sort of irc daemon, which one is the go-to these days? Is unrealircd still the more-or-less best option or is there something new/better? It's small server for few people. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MuffinMedic · 2017-01-15 04:03 I like [InspIRCd](http://www.inspircd.org). It's fast, well maintained, and works closely with the IRCv3 Working Group to support the latest features on IRC. The configuration is also no too complicated once you read through the documentation (same as any IRCD though) and it has a great module system with a large library of both built in and extra modules. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gray_-_wolf · 2017-01-15 04:07 will check it out, thanks :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gatewayy · 2017-01-15 06:40 I'm a big fan of [Nafarious/IRCU](https://github.com/evilnet/nefarious2) myself. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Famicoman · 2017-01-15 09:22 I'll back up this answer. My first ircd was Unreal and it had a bad reputation around the early 2000's. I then started netadmining an InspIRCd net and opering a separate Charybdis/Shadow net. I revisited both of them recently and really like the thorough config for InspIRCd. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Saber_UK · 2017-01-15 11:17 I'm an InspIRCd developer. If you have any problems then feel free to ask for help at irc.chatspike.net #inspircd. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2017-01-15 13:37 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tedivm · 2017-01-15 17:21 If you're using Puppet I made a [module](https://forge.puppet.com/tedivm/inspircd) for it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Y4kuzi · 2017-01-19 17:22 I recommend [ProvisionIRCd](https://www.provisionircd.tk) for beginners and small servers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- skorotkiewicz · 2017-01-21 00:12 [UnrealIRCd](https://www.unrealircd.org/) is an Open Source IRC Server, serving thousands of networks since 1999. It runs on Linux, OS X and Windows and is currently the most widely deployed IRCd with a market share of over 50%. UnrealIRCd is a highly advanced IRCd with a strong focus on modularity, an advanced and highly configurable configuration file. Key features include SSL, cloaking, its advanced anti-flood and anti-spam systems, swear filtering and module support. We are also particularly proud on our extensive online documentation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- World-Citizen-61101 · 2022-07-25 00:06 Why is nobody talking about ratbox or ngircd?
