"Software caused connection abort" Issue reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SUN-BAT-HER · 2016-12-31 00:16 so I recently downloaded mIRC. When trying to connect to a few different servers I get the following: [10053] Software caused connection abort I am brand new to IRC chat and am unsure where to go from here. Googling didn't really help out unfortunately. Hope this is the right place to post this. Let me know if other information is needed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AltReality · 2016-12-31 03:03 Here's a really good explanation of the IRC error codes. It is from the mIRC site but it applies to the IRC Standard, not just mIRC. http://www.mirc.org/mishbox/reference/ircerr.htm > [10053] Software cause connection abort Scenario: Joe and Mary are on their cell phones. Joe's battery freaks out briefly, making him think that the call to Mary had ended, so he hung up. This error occurs on the client-side for many reasons. Essentially, it is the same thing as the next error (which is server- side). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SUN-BAT-HER · 2016-12-31 03:10 Yeah I saw this, but don't really know how to go about fixing the problem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- AltReality · 2016-12-31 03:32 You generally can't. It's a problem with your connection to the server...you can try using a VPN...or finding a way to route around that...but it is probably being caused by a router along the route you are connecting to the server on. - You could also use a BNC which is kinda like a VPN..sorta...or you could try to change IP addresses from your ISP but that is pretty much your only options. None of these are guaranteed to fix the issue though. Just set your client to auto- reconnect. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2016-12-31 03:48 [removed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2017-01-09 00:30 [removed]
