I am posting this to see if Reddit can help me accomplish two tasks
relevant to somebody who knows almost nothing about the world of IRC.
If anybody would be interested in helping me become more apart of the
world of IRC, I would appreciate the help, here is what I am trying to
currently figure out.

1. I have used IRC on Windows and Linux in the past, but never on mac.
What IRC client(s) are recommended for the mac?
Any free clients would be preferred.

2. Ever since I first came across IRC, I've struggled with finding
channels that I would save, and give time out of my day to talk in and
contribute to in any ways that I can. Can anyone please send direct me
to site(s) where I can search for channels and such.

1. Definitely [Textual](https://www.textualapp.com)
2. What kind of topics / channels are you looking for? Snoonet is an
IRC network for subreddits, with many communities there. freenode
hosts a lot of channels for technology / computers / open source
software. Quakenet is for gaming, Rizon hosts the 4chan channels,
etc...

Personally, I use Snoonet and freenode for both social and
technology-based channels.

I think a solid 15 mins of reading Google search results can answer
both of these questions and much much more.
