Different nick on different channels but same network

I am starting to use IRC again and was wondering if this was possible.
I am using irssi as my client and basically want to join different
channels on the same network, freenode right now, using different
nicknames on some channels.  Some channels I use for personal
interests and others are for professional ones and I'd rather keep the
nicknames separate.

I dont think this is possible, but I figured it wouldnt hurt to ask.

This is not possible, at least with one connection - your nick is the
same across the network.

You can, however, setup 2 connections to the IRC server, each with
different nicks and their respective channels.
