Why is my ZNC constantly whois'ing everyone? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gringlemingle · 2016-09-18 22:38 ^Title, not sure why it's doing it? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MuffinMedic · 2016-09-18 22:39 That's not standard behavior - what modules do you have enabled? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gringlemingle · 2016-09-18 22:41 chansaver control panel could it be that it's because I'm connected via laptop and desktop? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2016-09-18 22:42 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonman9 · 2016-09-18 22:42 you probably mean /who and it does that, i don't know why. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MuffinMedic · 2016-09-18 22:43 It could be one of your clients automatically performing WHOISes on users and them being sent from ZNC to all - You can use [route_replies](http://wiki.znc.in/Route_replies) in ZNC to ensure responses only go to the appropriate client. Also checkout your client settings to see if they have anything about this. I'm not sure about WHOIS as that's rather strange to be automated, but some clients automatically perform a /WHO on users periodically. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gringlemingle · 2016-09-18 22:43 Maybe, not sure. Disconnected my Laptop from the znc and it seems to have stopped now. thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- damiankw · 2016-09-19 03:44 Generally clients will do a /WHO on a channel when it enters - this is to get the user detail (nick, user, host, real name, channel modes), as on a lot of networks you only get @NICK on join from the /NAMES list. Occasionally you will find clients that /who the channel after a period of time as well. Very occasionally you will also get one that will /who every user that joins the channel after it's joined. Chances are this will actually be the client connected to ZNC, not ZNC itself :) (and /u/gringlemingle .. just in case you miss this) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- c45y · 2016-09-19 08:49 Had the same thing happen, it was another connected client doing it...hexchat? or weechat maybe? There is a setting you can toggle so whois goes only to the client requesting it, but tbh I just killed the client doing it and moved on ---------------------------------------------------------------------- astroholic · 2016-09-19 15:02 http://wiki.znc.in/Route_replies This happened to me with WeeChat. Just enable the route_replies module in each Network and it will stop ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1percentof1 · 2016-09-19 19:26 This comment has been overwritten. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gringlemingle · 2016-09-19 21:07 im using hexchat so thats probably it ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gringlemingle · 2016-09-19 21:08 it was my client from my laptop, but thanks
