IRCD-Hybrid: Allowing Server Op To Make Self Channel Op? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JFFail · 2016-07-16 14:40 I apologize for what's probably a stupid question, but I've been struggling all morning to find any good information on this; I'm guessing I'm just not quite searching for the right information. I've set up a simple IRC server on IRCD-Hybrid for a couple of coworkers and I to use. I configured ircd.conf to allow me to use **/oper** and make myself a network op, but I can't figure out what I'm missing to allow network ops to run **/mode** to make themselves channel ops. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. *Edit on 7/18/2016* Just wanted to post a quick update that with the help of people here and some additional research I managed to get my problem solved. I threw together a quick [blog post](http://failtime.freeshell.org/2016/07/18/using-opme-on-ircd- hybrid/) detailing my solution if anyone sees this post in the future with the same questions; sorry I'm too lazy to type it out again. I appreciate everyone's help! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jumpking · 2016-07-16 17:06 In modules/extra there is an opme module you can use to give yourself op. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JFFail · 2016-07-16 20:25 Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, now I'm struggling to find any valid information on how to use modules? I confirmed I have m_opme.so in /usr/lib/ircd-hybrid/modules/extra. In trying to figure out how to leverage it, I found [this](http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/63816/become-operator- on-all-channels-ircd-hybrid) saying to use **/quote MODLOAD**, though as the comment there notes that has been deprecated. Trying it gives me "MODLOAD Unknown command". Following the [link there](https://github.com/jmaurice/ircd-hybrid/blob/master/NEWS), it claims MODLOAD and some other commands were replaced with a MODULE command. Sadly, I haven't been able to find *anything* about that. Trying the following: /quote MODULE LOAD m_opme.so Tells me: Notice -- Cannot locate module m_opme.so I get the same result if I try to provide the full path to the module. I double-checked my ircd.conf file and noticed that in the **modules** section, the path entry for extra was commented out. I uncommented that, restarted the service, but I'm still getting the same errors. I figure I'm missing something simple, but I've got no clue what it is. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- j4jackj · 2016-07-17 05:37 you should compile it. Can't help you just now because my laptop fell out of commission. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- JFFail · 2016-07-17 14:38 No worries, this points me in the direction I need to look. I appreciate the help! Sorry to hear about your laptop, though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- j4jackj · 2016-07-17 17:42 I have a netbook that still works.
