No. Anyone can log any channel or private message they are in as they
please. There is no way for this to be moderated/prevented.

There's no such thing as a "Chat log" in the sense of a formal thing
that IRC provides. People just... sit in the channel and store all the
messages sent. Occasionally some channels will have bots that provide
logs, but this is up to them (or someone else who is in the channel).

Yeah, with weechat, I just accumulate logs in `~/.weechat/logs` when
my client is active.

It's super handy, since I can grep them if I'm trying to recall a
conversation I had with someone.

Hahaha, I was experimenting with this recently, and decided to grep
the folder for "boobies". One general chat channel that I'm connected
to had maybe 400 entries over the past couple months. I laughed quite
a bit while reading the matches.
