HexChat 2.12.0 Released. reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Corosus · 2016-03-13 00:41 "fix numerous crashes (but not #600)" http://i.imgur.com/IgMyx.gif I should just setup a local bouncer so I can workaround this issue already. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- darkclone24 · 2016-03-13 10:11 Kaspersky detected a Trojan in the update and now my computer won't boot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TingPing · 2016-03-13 12:02 Well both of those problems are purely on Kaspersky, they will probably update some whitelist eventually as this seems to happen every release for various AV. (IRC being used by various malware and all) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- darkclone24 · 2016-03-13 13:47 Managed to get up and running, reverted back to 2.10. It's curious that Kaspersky has never done this with any other IRC client though. Will try updating HexChat after my next Kaspersky update. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TingPing · 2016-03-13 14:09 I wish I knew why, perhaps some malware does directly use HexChat's source, perhaps some users have falsely flagged it in the past, perhaps they flagged it because of the content of logs in the past. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TingPing · 2016-03-13 19:08 Release notes: https://hexchat.github.io/news/2.12.0.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Saber_UK · 2016-03-14 03:17 Antivirus vendors are massively incompetent and will be first against the wall when the revolution comes. A few years back we had problems with InspIRCd's Windows installer being detected as malware by several antivirus products. I set out to contact the vendors to get it unlisted and of the few I could even find a place to report false positives only two actually bothered to delist it. In the end we switched the installer compression method from LZMA to zlib and 98% of the antivirus software stopped whining about it.
