Having issues with irc. Something about a session limit that won't let me log in plus registration errors with my nickname reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -zombie-squirrel · 2016-02-29 06:31 I registered my nickname on Friday and I thought it went through, was able to use it fine until Friday night/Sat morning when I tried to log back in it gave me a registration error and "error closing out (nickname@address I dont have). After it kept repeating the error fifty billion times even though I only tried to log in a few times, it gave me a "session limit for your IP has been exceeded." Why did this happen and how do I fix it?? I just want to get online with my buddies. the Irc client I use is IRCHighway which seems to have something to do with kiwi irc recently. I'm really computer illiterate and have no clue why this happened. I need an ELI5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CannedDeath · 2016-02-29 10:55 Is IRCHighway complaining about the session limit, or is that coming from the network that you're trying to connect to? If you're not sure, try connecting to a different network. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -zombie-squirrel · 2016-02-29 22:33 Ok I'll try that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -zombie-squirrel · 2016-02-29 22:39 Wait, I'm not sure what you mean by network. I'm on my home wifi and don't have another internet source, do you mean irc channel? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- m1ss1ontomars2k4 · 2016-02-29 22:42 How are you connecting to IRC? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -zombie-squirrel · 2016-02-29 22:45 Through my browser. I use firefox ---------------------------------------------------------------------- m1ss1ontomars2k4 · 2016-02-29 23:38 No, I mean, what values do you put in to the boxes? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -zombie-squirrel · 2016-02-29 23:53 I have no idea what you mean, I'm sorry. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CannedDeath · 2016-02-29 23:55 In IRC, there are a lot of networks, like freenode, EFnet, or SnooNet. Each network has one or more servers and its own channels (e.g. #foo on freenode is a complete different channel from #foo on SnooNet). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -zombie-squirrel · 2016-02-29 23:59 oh ok. IRCHighway and the channel is fandomnatural
