IRC Customization reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MeckJ · 2016-02-16 23:18 So, I've just started to get into the grits of IRC and use it for more than just Twitch Chat. However, with so many options out there, and not a lot of easily (for me at least) found information about customizing your clients of choice I was wondering if there were some guides out there for different ways of setting up IRC clients. These don't have to be client specific, I think I can apply knowledge to more than one application so anything that might be available would be great. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paffeu · 2016-02-17 04:11 What are you interested in? Which os do you use? For start point I would recommend you xchat/hexchat, after that I tried using IRC bouncer (znc). I have stared like that and now I am using irssi/weechat session on my server. I'm sleepy right now so my post may be a huge mess. Feel free to ask anything here, I will respond later for sure ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MeckJ · 2016-02-17 04:19 I'm interested in a lot. Mainly Computer Science related stuff: * Programming * Playing with different OS's * Pentesting and games as well. I'm also trying to get into Linux. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paffeu · 2016-02-17 04:31 Try hanging out on freenode. I started on freenode, now I am on 5 networks and I have like 50 windows in my client. I am interested in playing with oses, syetem administration + pieces of networking and some programming, eventually anime and computer games so I am enrolled on channels related to it. Hint: small channels are good because you can talk more freely and meet some friends via IRC. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MeckJ · 2016-02-17 05:35 I think that's the biggest thing, finding channels, but I believe I've found a few I like. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- paffeu · 2016-02-17 13:29 Yeah, It can take some time.
