What if you disable highlight in undesirable channels? AdiIRC has this
option under treebar/swhitchbar context menu.

Also scripting is always an option.

I don't know that you'll find a client that has that feature, frankly,
there are only so many decent clients and you sound like you've looked
into most of them. Scripting really isn't that hard, there are tons of
tutorials covering mIRC scripting and Python (for Hexchat). You might
also find a prewritten script that does what you want.

I use Irccloud. It does this. It's a web client, but it's better than
any desktop client I've used, and their phone app is the only IRC
phone app that doesn't drain your battery.
