I'm working on a different kind of IRC bot and I'd like your input reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- yayforprivacy · 2015-10-09 09:31 I use IRCCloud for all my IRC stuff and I love being able to get push notifications through IRC and I thought it'd be handy if my servers could all give me instant alerts via IRC instead of being lost among emails. This led me to write this bot, Graystone. Using MySQL any app can speak as the bot or perform any other IRC command. You can also perform command line actions or http requests and have the output given to you via IRC. This is pretty specific to my needs but I've tried to write it in a way where anyone could use it (or edit it to suit as its only ~600 lines) and I'd love to hear your ideas or what you think of it :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dijit · 2015-10-09 15:09 why did you choose mysql over a proper message queue? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- yayforprivacy · 2015-10-10 07:11 I was originally going to build in a basic web server to accept messages but opted for MySQL as I didn't want to require a port. MySQL means pretty much any app anywhere can integrate with it and doesn't limit it to just the server the app is running on. If you think another way is better though I'm open to change things or add another option I just don't want to become every other bot which has every possible function ever.
