IRCXY: A new IRCv4 compliant IRCd with services built in, IRCX compatible (Yes i know its java) reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- the_rabbit · 2015-09-23 00:39 If you are the creator of this github repo, you should consider creating a gitignore for the repo and removing all the class files in the repo. The class files are not necessary since the java files are there. They are all just compiled copies of the files stored in the source folder. You can simply recreate them by putting them through a compiler again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonman9 · 2015-09-23 00:42 Yeah, you are right, besides that's what the .jar file link is for. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- the_rabbit · 2015-09-23 00:44 It was just a suggestion. I wasn't attempt to be critical. Just trying to help. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nekosune · 2015-09-23 00:48 Removed, normal irc server's don't ping back to the creator with full connection details and admin email. Nor do they store user passwords in plain text ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2015-09-23 00:49 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonman9 · 2015-09-23 00:52 I forked it, so I can remove that ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nekosune · 2015-09-23 01:10 readded the post, Sorry for the trouble, sadly irc servers can be one of the targets of people with malicious intent ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonman9 · 2015-09-23 01:11 thanks, and i can understand that, btw tesx.org doesn't respond, and i'll remove that autosubmit thing in the morning ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Nicd · 2015-09-23 07:11 IRCv4? Is that a thing? I've only heard of IRCv3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- M2Ys4U · 2015-09-23 07:20 IRCv*4*? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonman9 · 2015-09-23 16:01 i invented that ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aerdan · 2015-09-24 16:02 Describe what 'IRCv4' means to you, please. What portions of IRCv3 displease you? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonman9 · 2015-09-24 16:16 Just look at the implementation docs, its radically different http://concerned.neocities.org/nuircd ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aerdan · 2015-09-24 16:38 Adding a few server-side aliases does not make a new IRC protocol. So, what portions of IRCv3 displease you? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonman9 · 2015-09-24 16:40 I never said IRCv3 displeased me, services are built in, its supposed to add more features. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Aerdan · 2015-09-24 16:53 So...why not contribute to existing IRCv3 efforts? It's clear that you have ideas on where IRC needs to go. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Anonman9 · 2015-09-24 16:54 This isn't my idea, I'm just the developer ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2015-09-24 17:00 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mihohl · 2015-09-25 07:31 "lets bolt a bunch of not very well thought out custom stuff onto the IRC protocol" -- sounds more like what most people done with IRCv2, so I guess the author doesn't have any idea what IRCv3 is all about
