Anyone knows any IRC with logging feature reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- EnigmaticSadness · 2015-07-26 13:44 I mean I want to log all chat when I go offline.. to read them after I come back.. I had seen such a feature before on some channel that provides a link to the txt file which has got all chat from beginning in it ---------------------------------------------------------------------- goggimoggi · 2015-07-26 16:50 An IRC bouncer is good for this purpose. It can always stays connected to your servers, then you setup your client to connect to it. They can be configured to "play back" what happened since you left each time you reconnect. I run [ZNC](http://wiki.znc.in/ZNC) on a crappy Linux box and open a port through my router to it so I can take my laptop on the go with me. There are also hosted bouncer services if you don't want to run your own. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wmcscrooge · 2015-07-26 19:41 Almost all irc clients have a logging feature, weechat for sure has one (that's the one i use). The problem is that they'll only log channels that you have open currently. What i would do is keep weechat open on a spare desktop 24/7 and i'd catch up when i came back from work or from sleeping. If you don't want this (which makes sense cause you don't need a 24/7 on computer), you'll need an irc bouncer. If you have a server or something like (there are a couple free ones if iirc correctly for this sort of stuff where you get a small shell account. you can have an irc client running through screen and you just erconnect to the screen session when you log on. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 3ricG · 2015-07-26 23:06 If you use a command line IRC client (like Irssi or something similar), you could also run something like GNU screen or tmux, then leave your session up. Probably not as efficient, but it's what I do. Also if you're worried about missing a message to you (and you run irssi), you can use the "Irssi Notifier" app to push notifications to your phone (assuming you have a smartphone). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- faghat · 2015-07-26 23:14 Aside from using a bouncer, a channel with something like [ChanStat](http://chanstat.net/) in would be able to serve logs upon request, for up to 90 days in ChanStat's case. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DStoo · 2015-07-29 16:26 irssi. http://irssi.org/beginner/#c8
