Can't connect to freenode and snoonet at the same time? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- farded · 2015-07-03 13:43 I've been trying to connect to snoonet and freenode, but they'll kick each other off as soon as I connect to the other and nickserv tells me I'm already signed in under 'farded' like it thinks the servers are the same. I'm using irssi with the '/connect' command and even tried with two instances to see if it was the program messing up. Sure enough, as soon as I'm on snoonet/freenode, the other disconnects. This used to work without any trouble. Update: i logged onto both without getting disconnected and it will only let me use "farded" on one server at a time. Disconnected from freenode and was suddenly able to change my nick back to 'farded' on snoonet without getting the message that "nick farded is aready in use". I'm on my way out the door and will investigate more later, hopefully with some extra insight. **SOLVED**: Finally actually went to snoonet and found the server is irc.snoonet.**org** . For some strange reason, irc.snoonet.com was just connecting me to freenode. I didn't find any instances of freenode or snoonet in my .irssi/config file so I'm not sure what that was all about. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 24cal · 2015-07-03 14:01 How do you have your networks configured in your ~/.irssi/config file? I also use irssi and do not have this issue. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- farded · 2015-07-03 16:45 { address = "irc.freenode.net"; chatnet = "freenode"; port = "6667"; password = "fake_password"; use_ssl = "no"; ssl_verify = "no"; }, and snoonet I'm just typing: /connect irc.snoonet.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 24cal · 2015-07-03 17:41 How are you defining your 'freenode' chatnet? Mine looks like this. servers = ( { address = "irc.freenode.net"; chatnet = "IRCnet"; port = "6667"; }, { address = "irc.prankdose.com"; chatnet = "dose"; port = "6667"; } ); And then for my chatnets chatnets = { IRCnet = { type = "IRC"; max_kicks = "4"; max_msgs = "5"; max_whois = "4"; max_query_chans = "5"; }; dose = { type = "IRC"; max_kicks = "4"; max_msgs = "5"; max_whois = "4"; max_query_chans = "5"; }; }; The chat nets are default though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- farded · 2015-07-04 02:13 Mine are pretty much defaults too. I set it up over a year ago and haven't changed anything in a long time so I'm not sure why it's suddenly acting funny. I logged into freenode, no problem. Logged into snoonet, tried "/nick farded" and got "is already in use." As soon as I used "/msg nickserv ghost farded password" in Snoonet, I'm kicked from Freenode again. > [freenode] -!- You were killed by NickServ [NickServ@services.] [(GHOST command used by notfarded)] [Path: ] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 24cal · 2015-07-04 06:33 Try another IRC client to try a reproduce? This is bizarre man. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- farded · 2015-07-04 12:52 I tried xchat and got the exact same result. But I did notice that both clients were connecting to irc.snoonet.com as a freenode server and labled it snoonet. Finally actually went to snoonet and found the server is irc.snoonet.**org** .
