Need an IRC utility that can send e-mail notifications and I don't
trust my Google skills! Any recommendations?

Please don't use pircbot, use pircbotx if you have to.

May I ask why? I have currently no running java-bot but I wrote one
some time ago and then I used pircbot. However, I find both Haskell
and erlang more pleasing to write in.

pircbot is outdated and is written very poorly. pircbotx is an updated
version of pircbot that actually is written very well. I honestly
wouldn't use java either but if you have to, use pircbotx.
