Would anyone be able to recommend a server/channel where one can find
daily English-language newspapers as files (e.g., epub, pdf...)?

er, irc channel with .PDF news? Why do you need exectly irc channel
for this?

I meant, how do you see that? A bot sending .pdf links to chat or what
ever else?
Short answer is "no", but long is "yes, there might be some channels
with such bots, but IRC isnt that popular for such a things nowadays".

While not PDF's look into a rss "bot" you can find RSS feeds from
pretty much any news site and have the bot relay the title and a link
to a channel. There is usually a #news channel on big networks. I
actually wrote my own rss irc bot and use it for a very small network
run by some friends.

If you where thinking along the lines of "pirate" type xdcc bots, I'd
say you are SOL. Xdcc has pretty much died now a days. And to find
such a niche xdcc bit that serves up pirated newspapers....needle in a
haystack.

I also recall seeing some program or browser addon that converts a
website to PDF if you where wanting a offline option of reading
newspapers on your phone/tablet. But I think it would be hard to keep
upto date with news sites since news travels so fast these days.
