Choosing a host for a free mature audience, niche group, suggestions? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- psyhcopig · 2015-05-01 21:07 There's a niche facebook group I'm a part of which only has a few thousand members with only a handful that interact outside of Facebook, but in hopes to stir this techsavy group into a more real- time chat base I figured why not set up a simple IRC channel for this since it can be as easy as clicking a link to a flash-based client for auto-joining these days for IRC. The group does also have a website which once I have the room running I'll ask the admins to add to the website (And give them OP of course) What nodes do you suggest I do this with? The biggest thing is that there may be image links shared which are NSFW, so any IRC node which restricts such things will be out. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- aFreshMelon · 2015-05-01 21:16 Pretty much any IRC network will do for this since none cater specifically to "niche facebook group", I guess that would be a weird focus, huh? Since I'm from Snoonet I'll tell you it's great and the Kiwi webchat really does make joining a thing of a single click (http://webchat.snoonet.org/channel) and we have really responsive support. But in the spirit of equality in this subreddit I will also tell you that any IRC network will serve you just fine :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- alfiepates · 2015-05-02 09:53 Freenode is my go-to network for community channels like this. Snoonet is also pretty great!
