HexChat 2.10.2 Spell Check Help reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jezuitx · 2015-04-04 23:00 I've done pretty much everything I can think of to make the spell check work again on my Windows 8.1 PC. I've uninstalled/reinstalled, removed enchant folders, put enchant folders everywhere they were suppose to go in the past, and still nothing. Also, I have made sure the GUI shows it's enabled, and I've turned it on/off with the line command to make sure it wasn't some weird GUI issue. Current Hexchat location: C:\Program Files\HexChat Current enchant location: C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Roaming\enchant Preferences -> Input Box -> Spell Check -> Dictionary to use: en_US Any help or suggestions you can give would be appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TingPing · 2015-04-05 02:33 >put enchant folders everywhere they were suppose to go in the past, > >Current enchant location: C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Roaming\enchant Well thats wrong... just use the installer which knows where to go: https://hexchat.github.io/downloads.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jezuitx · 2015-04-05 02:42 That's where the installer put it. I know that's the case because when I did my last uninstall I deleted all enchant folders from my PC. Someone who has a working Hexchat spell checker with version 2.10.2 please met me know where your enchant folder is. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TingPing · 2015-04-05 02:51 Thats not true. It installs to [%localappdata%\enchant](https://github .com/hexchat/hexchat/blob/master/win32/spelling/hexchat- spelling.skel.iss#L11). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jezuitx · 2015-04-05 04:00 That's R1. The one in the installer and on the page is R2. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TingPing · 2015-04-05 04:21 Nah the name on that link is just wrong because I renamed the file after I made it and since the actual contents have not changed in like 5 years I never bothered updating it there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jezuitx · 2015-04-05 06:23 Don't even know why I brought up the R1 vs R2 thing. Anyway %localappdata% is the samething as C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Roaming\. So it's there in %localappdata%\enchant. So any other ideas? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TingPing · 2015-04-05 07:03 > Anyway %localappdata% is the samething as C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Roaming. It is not. Just type it in Explorer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jezuitx · 2015-04-06 04:41 I put it in the run box. If you're seeing something else I have to ask what version of Windows you're running. If it's not Windows 8.1 that could explain it, but I'm fairly sure that's always the path of %localappdata%. If it's not show me where your enchant folder is with C:/ path directions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TingPing · 2015-04-06 04:47 > I have to ask what version of Windows you're running. If it's not Windows 8.1 that could explain it, but I'm fairly sure that's always the path of %localappdata%. It was last changed in Windows Vista and has not changed since. You keep referring to `%appdata%`. >If it's not show me where your enchant folder is with C:/ path directions. I already answered your question days ago in my first comment. The installer installs into `%localappdata%\enchant`. That is the correct folder. It is possible you broke Windows by modifying the registry to move localappdata.. but I doubt this. Good luck anyway. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jezuitx · 2015-04-06 06:46 Well I feel like an idiot. The whole time I must have forgotten to delete the one I put in roaming. The installer did install it in C:\Users\Mike\AppData\Local. So any other ideas?
