Best IRC client for mac users???? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- duckyou0864 · 2015-03-31 00:15 I've read good things about Colloquy but i was hoping to get some info from someone with some first hand knowledge. Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- MillenniumFalc0n · 2015-03-31 00:30 [Textual](http://textualapp.com) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- duckyou0864 · 2015-03-31 00:43 Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- cmsj · 2015-03-31 11:14 I say ignore the whole local client thing, and go with irccloud :D ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ExBritNStuff · 2015-03-31 12:34 irssi works perfectly for me on whatever system I'm running. On OSX you can install it from [Homebrew](http://brew.sh/) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Clintcar · 2015-03-31 15:33 Paying for an app to access IRC is insane. Just grab LimeChat. It's great. http://limechat.net/mac/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- professed · 2015-03-31 17:04 I use [Colloquoy](http://colloquy.info/) when I'm on the Mac and am very happy with it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DRW_ · 2015-03-31 17:41 I'm paying a few £, an amount I could lose down the back of the sofa and not notice, for a piece of software that works and looks the way I want it to, that someone has put hundreds of hours of time into developing it, a piece of software that I use every day for hours at a time, all for the price of a coffee or two. I don't see what's so insane about that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- alfiepates · 2015-04-02 02:44 Seconded. I was a Colloquy user for years... then I bought textual. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- anyb0dy · 2015-04-04 22:24 weechat or irssi ftw. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- the_biggest_lie · 2015-04-05 04:13 I have just started using LimeChat and it's pretty good. It's free and it has some advanced features that I probably don't need but one day I may like. It's raw and retro looking. It may be a bit crap for someone who is really new to IRC. I hadn't used IRC in 15 years so I am sort of struggling. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sigjuice · 2015-04-07 05:13 After running irssi in screen on a VPS for years, I moved to Textual and ZNC a couple of days ago. I am still getting used to the new arrangement, but I am really happy and excited about it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- GreenGully · 2015-04-07 05:38 take a look at crossover. It lets you run windows programs without needing windows. I use it to run mIRC ---------------------------------------------------------------------- makepkgnotwar · 2015-04-07 23:19 textual costs $5 but is well worth it.
