xdcc downloads, isp throttling me?

- I've used irc a lot, and have always loved my insane download
speeds. But now, I'm barely getting anything.

* Tried different servers.

* Tried many different bots.

* Disabled firewall, anti virus avira, turned modem/router gateway
combination into bridged mode *so it functions as just a modem and
ports are open*

* Tried 2 different vpn services to see if they would help, same
speeds.

This is my internet speed test, which is fine.

What would normally take minutes to get, now can take an hour or more
for large files. I really don't know how else to go about fixing this.

Where are the remote systems that you're downloading from?

What speed rates are you getting to them?

Assuming you're on the west coast of the US (based on the speed test
and the latency listed), try running speed tests to somewhere on the
east coast, like DC or NY, and to Europe -- France, Germany, UK, see
if the results come closer to matching the rates you're seeing from
the DCCs.

It could be that Comcast is intentionally throttling, it could be
throttling as a side effect of other things going on (like congested
links with their peers), or it could be something else again.

I used to get 3mb/s on IRC but now cannot go over 1mb/s.I think my ISP
could be throttling.
You could try getting a vps and use xirc to download it to your box
and then ftp it back.I got speeds of 48mb/s while doing this but ftp
maxed out at 1.6mb/s (my location doesnt help as im in australasia)

Late reply, I just finally got a vps setup. It even had a pretty good
test speed at 70mb. So I decided to try it, and I've tested it a few
times in irc. I honestly don't understand this, my speed is horrible,
the vps download speed for irc is horrible. Yet, others claim their
speed is fine.
