How can I find channels that are actually active? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Deegs80 · 2015-03-04 00:10 Where are you going now to see it that its inactive? Could be the time of day you're on. If you let us know the kind of channel you're after perhaps some us can redirect you to something better. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2015-03-04 05:42 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Helzibah · 2015-03-04 09:56 IRC can be very variable. Time of day makes a huge difference, you need to bear in mind the timezones of the most active participants (one of my channels is often very active during EU workdays when people are procrastinating, but other channels are notoriously dead at that point). I also find that it only takes a couple of people chatting about something to wake a bunch of the lurkers up. If you join, say 'hi' and then nothing else, don't be surprised if the channel remains quiet. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Koiq · 2015-03-05 20:02 Well what are you supposed to say? Can't really just have a conversation with yourself. The rooms Ive always frequented are dying or dead even though there's like 30 people in the room there is never any chat. Even the default #rizon on the rizon network that has hundreds of people never has any chat. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kvn864 · 2015-03-06 17:58 i saw this concept as well, there will be hundreds of people and noone is talking, just idling, maybe they are just snatching stuff there :) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- coldf2 · 2015-03-07 22:10 Come play on abjects. It's a fairly decent size place with many active channels.
