Is it of use to install a bouncer (ZNC) if I already have an eggdrop bot to log to discussions? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- holoismywaifu · 2015-02-25 15:48 I want to log the discussions of a channel, and to be able to send messages, eggdrop doesn't seem really adapted for this use, it's mostly a bot to log and use scripts. Is ZNC more adapted to send messages? I don't really know what I want, I'm imagining a kind of rTorrent but for IRC, where you put it on your server, it connects and you can access it from a web interface, but I guess you can't send messages via the web interface like KiwiIRC or Mibbit. Well, I don't really know, but if the sole purpose of ZNC is to log and stay connected, I can as well keep my eggdrop. What I would like is something that stay connected even when I logout (to have logs), but which also have an interface to discuss. Could someone help me for that? I'm pretty new to IRC, and even newer to bouncers and shells. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- TingPing · 2015-02-25 17:11 A bouncer sits between a normal client and a normal server. It is not a web client so you don't log into it to chat, you use a normal client (web or local) to connect to the znc and chat. Something like [irccloud](https://www.irccloud.com) is a persistent online webchat but since you have no control over it you don't really get log files...
