Security Related Community reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whatsaret · 2015-02-02 14:46 Hi there, I'm looking to make some new friends and find a security/sysadmin/*nix related server to chat on and learn new things, I do sysadmin but I specialise in security and auditing code, if anyone could help me out I'd greatly appreciate it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- flotwig · 2015-02-02 14:52 /r/netsec should get on Snoonet... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whatsaret · 2015-02-02 14:57 Snoonet seems nice, I might check it out, I used to go on abjects and a few others just looking for some place to chat ---------------------------------------------------------------------- flotwig · 2015-02-02 15:04 Snoonet's good for just chatting. It doesn't have any communities like what you're looking for yet though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whatsaret · 2015-02-02 15:08 any good chans I should check out? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- flotwig · 2015-02-02 15:10 Depends on what you're into. #reddit is the social uncensored mega channel but it's kinda a ghost land. Check out the channel list, see if we have any subreddits you use: https://stats.snoonet.org/channel ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fedv · 2015-02-02 15:11 \#technology #techsupport (they're all super smart) #reddit can be but is usually a circle jerk. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whatsaret · 2015-02-02 15:12 Cool thanks for the recommendations I'll check it out after school ---------------------------------------------------------------------- efreak2004 · 2015-02-02 21:38 OFTC or Freenode might have a good channel for this, but I don't know of any offhand. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- kyskys · 2015-02-03 21:07 Doubt you'll find any interesting ones from a sec perspective. If you want to chat hit me up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whatsaret · 2015-02-05 13:18 All the hacking related ones I've seen thus far are filled with kids trying to figure out how to ddos someone or spread their dumb malware ---------------------------------------------------------------------- confused00- · 2015-02-05 16:56 \#\#security on freenode is always active ---------------------------------------------------------------------- efreak2004 · 2015-02-06 08:39 Don't look for the word hack. Ignore its presence (or lack thereof). Look for *security* and other keywords. Pen testing. You could also join one of the larger general chat or programming channels and ask in there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- whatsaret · 2015-02-06 09:33 I looked for both dude, a few security chans I found were just dead
