Streaming a channel? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- valiantiam · 2014-12-17 17:52 Hey everyone. I am using a bot to dump chat from within a game to an IRC channel. I would like to provide a webpage for users to go too where they could watch the IRC chat without having to actually join the channel. Is there a bot I could use that could grab the chat in the IRC and dump it someplace else? Maybe I don't even know what I need or am explaining poorly. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- noeatnosleep · 2014-12-17 18:02 That sounds like something that might need to be custom written. If you find something, I'm interested as well! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- valiantiam · 2014-12-17 18:03 Yea it might be. Like I want it to just STREAM the chat, not actually allow people to participate. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- noeatnosleep · 2014-12-17 18:05 Yep. I understand what you're saying. We had this on a Minecraft server I used to play on. It had a live map and the chat was streamed. You could see where people were and what they were saying. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- flotwig · 2014-12-17 18:20 You can voice the bot, set the channel to +m, and then any users who join won't be able to speak but they can still see the bot. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- liquoranwhores · 2014-12-17 18:21 Try a few links in this [search](https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1C HWA_enUS616US616&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=irc2html&nfpr=1). If you had a bot (any client that can save logs) and a program to convert those logs into HTML, you could easily incorporate them into a web page. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- chandler243 · 2014-12-17 19:01 Check out Node.JS and Socket.IO. It wouldn't be too hard to make a webapp that does this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Pteraspidomorphi · 2014-12-18 00:38 Any multipurpose bot can do this, just have it log the chat and put the logfile in a web-accessible location in your server! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2014-12-18 00:50 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- prawnsalad · 2014-12-18 11:24 Please do not use this. This will eat your bandwidth and become extremely slow as the chat log increases. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kougi · 2014-12-28 05:39 I believe that's the DynMaps plugin, it's nice, but can really hog resources. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Kougi · 2014-12-28 05:45 I've been thinking of ways to do this as well. I have an IRC channel which currently receives messages from 2 different games/servers. It also produces some handy information at the end of competitive rounds, for example. If you had any luck in finding a solution to embed a channels' (read only) chat, I'd appreciate being pointed in the right direction! I'd imagine a javascript bot to pass data somewhere would be a good starting point. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- hosfordryan · 2015-02-09 20:08 How do you dump chat from a game to an IRC channel? I am new to IRC and this would be awesome to have. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- valiantiam · 2015-02-10 00:10 It involves a plugin on the server that we are actually trying to get to work. So hang in there :) We already have an IRC channel set up for it. Just need to await the plugin to work.
