Need help making a bot. reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mgs4manj · 2014-12-08 18:43 Has anyone here ever made a bot before? I've always wanted to make a simple one that would reply to three commands: !google !msg !commands I don't really know how to make a bot, that's why I'm asking for any help necessary. The !google would be used to link me to google search pages, automatically searching stuff for me, and the !msg command would leave messages for people the moment they come online, or immediately if the user already is online. !commands is just a command list listing those two commands and any potential commands that will be added in the future. Also, is it possible to host the bot on a server? If not, that's cool. --- Also to note, this isn't a bot for the Snoonet server, I go to a different server. I just am asking for help here because it's the only place I know of that I could get some help. I use mIRC and HexChat. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- NeedAGoodUsername · 2014-12-08 19:01 `#botters` on freenode might be able to help. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- DrooidKun · 2014-12-08 23:45 If you're in to poorly written shell script, [I've written one](https://github.com/doidbb/sadbottu/blob/master/sadbottu) that can provide a reference. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- mucus · 2014-12-09 00:11 [How to make a bot in Python](http://newcoder.io/~drafts/networks/intro/), [Java](https://www.hackthissite.org/articles/read/1095), [PHP](http://www.dreamincode.net/forums/topic/82278-creating-an-irc- bot-in-php/), [Javascript](http://davidwalsh.name/nodejs-irc) Googling "How to make an IRC bot in" + language of choice gives you th e answers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Karunamon · 2014-12-11 14:35 I wrote one in Ruby that may do what you want: https://github.com/Karunamon/rbreibot
