Can someone explain every single thing about this code to me? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2014-09-21 03:46 sF1 { var %n = $?="What's your nickname and password?" tokenize 32 %n nick $1 msg nickserv identify $2 } The code is in the mIRC Scripting Language. Thanks! By the way, are there any channels I can go to where people will help me with coding? I program in a few languages and i'm trying to teach myself but I rarely find anything useful. Can someone link me to the documentation too? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wmcscrooge · 2014-09-21 04:16 The [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/irc/comments/2gzhd9/redditprogethe r_on_freenode_come_visit/) before yours promotes a sub exactly for this: #reddit-progether on freenode. we specialize more in larger projects rather than individual help, but I'm sure we could help anyways. And try adding the an extra line between the lines for better formatting. Your code looks like one big line and is pretty hard to decipher that way. bonus points if you add four spaces before each line (code blocks) and say which language it's in. At a glance though it looks to be asking for nick/password, parsing the input and then message nickserv the info to identify an irc user. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2014-09-21 04:35 [deleted] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wmcscrooge · 2014-09-21 04:42 okay, looked up some mirc documentation, doesn't look too bad (although the syntax is weird as hell). basically: line 1: sets up a function line 2: gets the response from the prompt "What's your . . . . " line 3: tokenize splits up the reponse based on spaces line 4: set the nickname to the first word/section (this one I'm not so sure about) line 5: runs the command to send a password (the second word/section) to nickserv identifying the user. line 6: closing bracket for the function Best I can do since I don't actually use mirc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Pteraspidomorphi · 2014-09-21 10:56 /help /tokenize /tokenize Fills the $1 $2 ... $N identifiers with tokens in separated by character , eg.: /tokenize 44 a,b c,d,e The above command would set $1 = a, $2 = b c, $3 = d, $4 = e So you are correct about line 4. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- wmcscrooge · 2014-09-21 17:32 awesome, kinda confused about the whole number scheme (32 vs 44) but I just assumed 32 = space since that's what most of the examples use.
