Switched to Hexchat, need help with scripting reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ShadowsDieAway · 2014-09-18 18:04 Hello everyone. I previously used mIRC to script welcome messages for new subscribers. In mIRC I simply went to the tools tab and clicked "add script" and had the following there: > /ignore jtv!*@*.* > > on 1:connect: { /TWITCHCLIENT 3 } > > on 1:text:*subscribed*:#lethalfrag:{ > if ($nick == twitchnotify) { msg $chan fragLeft $$1 fragRight Welcome To The Dapper wixDude fragUp fragDapper fragHand } > } Using HexChat however it seems like I need to load a script and have no idea how to do it. I tried searching for the answers but can't seem to find any answers. Can anyone please walk me through the process of doing so? Also please let me know if this script would still work in HexChat or if I would need to change it. Thank you! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 500Rads · 2014-09-18 19:03 window > plugin and scripts ---------------------------------------------------------------------- jhoneycutt · 2014-09-18 19:05 This script will not run in Hexchat, as it's written using the mIRC scripting language, which Hexchat does not use. You can read about Hexchat's plug-in and scripting interfaces [here](http://hexchat.readthedocs.org/en/latest/developers.html). If you're not a programmer, you'll probably need to find someone else to do it for you. Because this is a small script, if you're lucky and polite, you may find someone in the [Hexchat IRC channel](irc://chat.freenode.net/hexchat) to help you write it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- SolarAquarion · 2014-09-18 22:28 Do you know perl or python? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- flotwig · 2014-09-19 13:41 Install Python 2.7 and then reinstall HexChat with support for Python modules. HexChats support for scripting is limited, but a script like this will be easy to write in Python. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- XavierNite · 2014-11-12 13:40 Check out the Perl, Python, or C++ scripting API's. Ultimately if you can't code then look for a script that will do the job for you at https://github.com/hexchat/hexchat-addons/ and if you can't find anything then it never hurts to ask someone to help you :)
