recommendations for weechat notifications?

I keep on missing messages in certain channels of mine so I want to
set up notifications for weechat on linux. I want to be able to get a
script that pops up a notication on public messages based on certain
channels only (I'd rather not get spammed in the busier channels). The
notification has to be a text notification, although if there's a
chime/bell/noise in addition I wouldn't be against it. Any
recommendations for the best script or method for this kind of
notification? Thanks in advance if you have anything!

I'd say highmon would be your best bet.

Unless I'm wrong doesn't highmon create notifications and allow you to
put the notifications in a separate pane? I want to be working in a
different workspace (i.e on firefox or somewhere where I can't see
weechat) and have a notification pop up in the corner.
