Easiest method for auto-kicking/banning on flooding? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RoyCurtis · 2014-08-01 04:40 I run and very loosely moderate an IRC server and channel. Almost anything goes but recently I have had to deal with certain users who [insist on spamming the channel](http://i.imgur.com/7TEYdN9.png) as a "joke". This is not a bot flood, but rather CTRL+V spamming. Instead of being namepinged to deal with the situation each time, I would like to set up an auto-kick or ban for such flooding. I run ngircd on linux but no services. I am not looking for my hand to be held but rather a solution that is easy to understand or is properly documented. I have tried: * Eggdrop - too much configuration, too complicated and ended up not doing what I wanted * Skybot - undocumented * ngircd config - could not find anything relevant * ZNC - bouncer I use; does not provide any flood kick/ban modules that I could find What would those with experience on this recommend? If there is a solution involving a Services provider, I could try it but I would prefer something simple and easy to setup. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- flotwig · 2014-08-01 04:43 Supybot plugin: https://github.com/ki113d/Supybot- plugins/tree/master/AttackProtector InspIRCd has a module which provides a chanmode for kickbanning on flood, but you're using ngircd Seems like some hacking of [this module](http://wiki.znc.in/Flooddetach) would be an easy way to integrate flood protection into ZNC. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RoyCurtis · 2014-08-01 05:48 Heh, was also suggested Supybot almost at the same time. I have set it up and given it a try. Took a while as it is not clearly documented but it seems to be working. Thank you very much! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- tacticalbread · 2014-08-01 23:37 Honestly, I feel like Supy is way more complicated than Eggdrop, and I've been running both for a couple years now. It's probably because I've been using Eggdrop for a lot longer. I guess Supy is easier to setup, but it feels way more complicated to actually use. But they both work, so I suppose what ever is easier for you, and gets the job done. I recommend Supy over Egg drop anyway. It's a lot more versatile. I actually only use Eggdrop for BMotion now anyway. So I guess what I'm trying to say here is that Supybot is good and you should give it a try.
