I'd like to set up an IRC server with an embeddable web interface on a Raspberry Pi. I have no idea where to begin. reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2014-07-27 11:24 Any suggestions for irc/web servers would be greatly appreciated. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2014-07-27 11:37 No IRC daemon that I know of has a built in web interface for chatting. You'r best bet is installing an IRC daemon either via packages (such as apt-get install blahblahblah), compiling source code yourself. For a web interface, hosting a KiwiIRC instance should be fine. It's open source, just like basically every IRCd out there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- [deleted] · 2014-07-27 11:45 Yeah, I didn't expect that there'd be an AIO solution. Thanks for your help. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- FiendKing04 · 2014-07-27 14:57 If you check out Atheme's website (http://atheme.org) they have Atheme IRC Services (ChanServ/NickServ/BotServ, etc.); tethys, Atheme's very own IRC daemon; charybdis, another IRCd; Iris, a web client; and finally, Atheme-Web, to manage Atheme IRC Services over the web. Hope this helps! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- phate408 · 2014-07-28 02:09 Or qwebchat is better imo ---------------------------------------------------------------------- M2Ys4U · 2014-07-28 04:38 Tethys isn't really ready for production use yet. Charybdis (also from the atheme team) would be a better use. To quote from the [README file on github](https://github.com/atheme/tethys/blob/master/README.md): >**This project is incomplete and very far from ready for production networks, even small ones.** There are gobs of critical bugs and missing features that will be cleared up for the 0.1 release, but until then, this software should not be used for anything but testing the software. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- zayelion · 2015-01-02 14:28 I started a project with something similar in mind it requires a bit of source code compliation but not alot. You start with Inspircd's source then find and add in the m_websocket module. Compile the installer, (if on windows like me) install it `configure it` and then connect via websocket. You'll need an client written in Javascript. Using proxies and clients that project a local interface dont solve the problem of IP identification and host mask. you cant have security without proper websockets. Source code I wrote https://github.com/SalvationDevelopment/YGOPro- Support-System/blob/master/server/http/js/irc.js
