Does an IRC client with the ability to connect to XMPP & Twitter like Smuxi but the customization and preference setting options like HexChat exist? reddit / irc ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Sognal · 2014-06-26 18:30 It's been the better half of a decade since I was last involved with IRC and I'm trying to get back into it. I've downloaded and tried a couple different clients and determined that, overall, I like HexChat and it's large amount of customization options and preference settings, but really like Smuxi's ability to connect to Twitter and XMPP. As far as I know that is not an option with HexChat, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a client that's kinda "the best of both worlds"? The computer I'll only use IRC on is Windows. Edit: Though I guess I'll add that XMPP doesn't matter *too* much as I'd only use it to connect to Seddit channels, and I could always just use my browser for that, but I would really like Twitter. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fikle · 2014-06-26 21:31 Not sure if this exactly what you want but you can try [Bitlbee](http://www.bitlbee.org/). Its an IRC->IM Gateway (including twitter), letting you use whatever client you prefer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- rgzzo · 2014-06-27 11:17 I came here to say exactly this. EDIT: Also irssi has it's [XMPP plugin](http://cybione.org/~irssi- xmpp/). Here's a [list](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_ins tant_messaging_clients#Protocol_support) of other IM clients supporting XMPP and IRC protocols. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nnyeld · 2014-06-27 17:33 I use weechat with bitlbee, but weechat itself supports the xmpp protocol via a script named jabber.py. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- XavierNite · 2014-11-12 14:54 Pidgin will connect to IRC as well as XMPP powered services (Jabber, Facebook, Google Talk), AIM, Yahoo IM & ICQ. OH! It's cross-platform as well, so you can run it on pretty much any OS.
